Public Relations Student Society of America

PRSSA is the preeminent pre-professional organization for students interested in public relations designed to promote, educate and encourage students to pursue experiences in public relations and to cultivate a mutually advantageous relationship between students and professionals.
Today the Public Relations Student Society of America has more than 8,500 members in 270 chapters on college campuses across the country.

PRSSA at Michigan State University

The Ned S. Hubbell Chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America at Michigan State University advances the profession of public relations through professional partnerships, competition, non-profit work, development programs, and involvement with the chapter organization, Public Relations Society of America. PRSSA has two missions: (1) serve members by enhancing their knowledge of public relations and providing access to professional development opportunities and (2) serve the public relations profession by helping to develop high quality, well-prepared professionals.

Nick Lucido - President

        Year: Junior
        Major:
Advertising and Public Relations

        Nick Lucido is the 2008-09 Chapter President of MSU PRSSA. He is a junior studying advertising with a public relations specialization and public administration. He currently works for The State News as a Senior Account Executive and Assistant Advertising Manager in the advertising department. Nick has also held internships at Lantz Communciations and John Bailey & Associates Inc., Public Relations. Nick lives by the phrase "hakuna matata" and is perpetually on the search for the perfect black pen. Eventually, he would like to work in the healthcare field of public relations.

Christina Capoferi - Vice President

        Year: Junior

Journalism and Public Relations

        Christina Capoferi is a junior majoring in Journalism with a Public Relations specialization. She is a mentor, living in West Circle. Starting in the fall, she will be interning at the Wharton Center. Previously, she has interned at Compassion Pregnancy Center.
        Christina is leaning toward some sort of entertainment communications in the future.

Courtney Curran - Agency Director

        Major: Communications and Public Relations

        I'm from Dearborn, Mich. and I am a junior in the College of Communication Arts & Sciences majoring in Communication and specializing in Public Relations. I have been an active member of PRSSA since freshman year and I look forward to developing the agency throughout the year. Monica Fineis - Bateman Chair

        Year: Senior
        Major: Advertising and Public Relations

        Monica left her wolverine hometown of Ann Arbor to study Advertising and Public Relations at MSU. She currently is a Marketing Assistant at MSU Global and had a summer internship at a Lansing PR firm—Martin Waymire Advocacy Communications and won the E. Ross Gamble Memorial Scholarship last year. In her free time, she works for the Cure Michigan campaign and records promos for MSU Today’s radio show. Last year, she received a scholarship from the Department of Advertising, Public Relations and Retailing. As the Bateman Chair, Monica will lead a team of four in the planning and implementation of a Public Relations campaign in the national Bateman Case Study competition. She is hoping to place in the top three in this year’s competition!

Whitney Geller - Associate E-Board Member

        Year: Senior
        Major: Communications and Public Relations

        Whitney Geller is a Senior majoring in Communication and specializing in Public Relations. As the Associate E-Board member Whitney works on a variety of projects, from finding new campaigns to assisting in starting the firm. This past summer Whitney lived in Beijing, China where she was a PR intern for a European fashion company. This December she will graduate and plans to move to New York to begin her professional career in public relations.

Kristine Kendall - Sophomore Chair

        Year: Sophomore
        Major: Communications and Public Relations

        Kristine is originally from Farmington Hills, Michigan and graduate of North Farmington High School. She joined PRSSA in the beginning of her freshman year and immediately started working on a committee for the Detroit Conference Bid. Outside of PRSSA, Kristine has done individual public relations work for organizations such as the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation. She has a strong background in television production from two years of interning for TV 10 in Farmington Hills and six weeks interning at Local 4 WDIV in Detroit. She is the Assistant Administrative Director for a young non-profit corporation called 4 Peace Inc. and, this year, will work for Residence Life as a Resident Assistant in Landon Hall.

Jenni Lewis - Public Relations Director

        Jenni will talk to anything with a pulse so approach at your own risk. She loves helping people, but often takes on a lot and need some advanced notice. She is determined to keep MSU's PRSSA chapter at the of the charts and get recognition for it, and anyone who is on that same path, meet your new bestfriend. She's also a compulsive e-mail checker, so shoot her an e-mail and she get right back to you.
      She has interned at the Detroit Free Press, Martin Waymire Advocacy Communications, John Bailey and Associated (Troy and Lansing), and interned at General Motors as the Chevrolet Communications intern this past summer.

Angela Minicuci - Webmaster

        Year: Junior
        Major: Communications and Public Relations

        Angela works at the Kresge Art Museum as an office assistant and is an undergraduate teaching assistant in the Communication department. As webmaster, which she thinks is a goofy name, she is in charge of creating and updating all aspects of our web site. She also creates the Powerpoint presentations for all of our chapter meetings. The web site this year is a complete re-design so if you have any comments, suggestions, or questions, please feel free to e-mail her. She really hopes to get the online aspect of our chapter to match the amount of experience and possibilities our members and E-Board show.

Courtney Sipperley - Alumni Relations Director

        Year: Junior
        Major: Advertising and Public Relations

        Courtney is a junior majoring in Advertising and Public Relations, and her position on the PRSSA Executive Board is the Alumni Relations Director. Her duties include planning the 'PR Links' networking event and career fair as well as maintaining and expanding the alumni database. Courtney was also an intern for Meridian Entertainment Group and currently is an intern for the Old Town Commercial Associaton. She loves MSU, building jigsaw puzzles and of course, PRSSA!

Julia Wendzinski - Publication Director/National Liason

        Year: Sophomore
        Major: Advertising and Public Relations

       Julia Wendzinski is an Advertising and Public Relations sophomore from Troy, MI. As Publication Director, she is in charge of designing and producing all of the chapter's publications for meetings and special events. Along with this, she is also responsible for keeping an eye on National PRSSA happenings. Julia hopes to go into non- traditional marketing and promotion when she graduates.

Tony Willis - Financial/Fundraising Chair

        Year: Junior
        Major: Communications and Sociology minor

        Tony Willis is a Communication major and Sociology minor from Oak Park, MI.
He is a manager and event supervisor at Melting Moments, a landmark in the community of East Lansing.
As the Financial and Fundraising chair his duties are to keep track of where our money is going, balancing the accounts, pay the bills, and host a fundraiser as least once of month, to raise money for PRSSA.

Aubrey Zimmerman - Secretary

        Year: Junior
        Major: Advertising and Public Relations

        Aubrey works at the Breslin Center as one of three Usher Staff Directors and am in charge of scheduling and providing tours. She enjoys playing and watching sports, especially the Detroit Tigers; hanging out with friends, playing euchre, boating, being outside, and shopping.
        Aubrey is in charge of taking minutes at all of the meetings, keeping all members updated on whats going on through e-mails, Hubbell Points and ensuring everyone participates fully in whatever they have signed up to do. She is looking forward to working with the awesome E-board we have and am excited to meet all of our members. She hopes everyone gets involved with the great campaigns we have and will help Bateman win 1st place!
